His impressive scoring average ranks him sixth in the Big Ten, and his total points place him 12th in the school's history for a single season. Tyson's consistent performance has been a highlight, with two 30-point games and 14 games scoring over 20 points this season.
He reached a career milestone by scoring his 1,000th point in the season opener and currently boasts a career total of 1,578 points and 517 rebounds. Notably, he tied a school record with eight three-pointers in a game against Texas Southern.
Junior Bobby Durkin, from Darien, Ill., was recognized with Minnesota's Sportsmanship Award. Durkin has been a reliable presence for the Gophers, appearing in all 31 games and starting the last 23.
He leads the team in three-pointers made (74) and attempted (187), while also boasting an impressive 88.9% free throw percentage. Durkin reached his own milestone with his 1,000th career point against UCLA, contributing 316 points this season to his career total of 1,033.
In other Big Ten honors, Aday Mara from Michigan was named Defensive Player of the Year, while Illinois' Keaton Wagler took home Freshman of the Year. Nebraska's Braden Frager earned Sixth Man of the Year, and Fred Hoiberg of Nebraska was honored as Coach of the Year. Wisconsin's Sharif Chambliss received the Howard Moore Assistant Coach of the Year Award.
The first team selections featured standout players like Keaton Wagler from Illinois and Yaxel Lendeborg from Michigan, who was also named Player of the Year. The second team included talents such as Lamar Wilkerson from Indiana and Bennett Stirtz from Iowa.
