The Milwaukee Bucks finally put the brakes on a frustrating seven-game skid this past Saturday, and they did it in emphatic fashion-crushing the Brooklyn Nets 116-99 at Fiserv Forum. That win wasn’t just a much-needed morale boost for the team; it also marked a major milestone for their franchise cornerstone. Giannis Antetokounmpo, the two-time MVP and perennial All-NBA force, crossed the 21,000 career points threshold, pouring in 29 to lead the way.
Now, the Bucks are eyeing back-to-back wins as they head to the nation’s capital to face the Washington Wizards on Monday night. But there's a bit of uncertainty hanging over the matchup: Will Giannis be in uniform?
As of now, Antetokounmpo is listed as probable on the league’s official injury report. The issue?
A left adductor strain-essentially a groin injury-which has already sidelined him for four straight games earlier this season. While the Bucks have been cautious with his workload, all signs point to this being more about maintenance than a major concern.
If Giannis does suit up-and again, the “probable” tag leans in that direction-Washington will be bracing for another long night. The last time these two teams met, back on October 22 in the season opener, Antetokounmpo absolutely torched the Wizards.
He dropped 37 points on a hyper-efficient 16-of-26 shooting, while also snagging 14 boards and dishing out five assists. It was a reminder of just how dominant he can be when he’s in rhythm-and how tough it is for any team, let alone a rebuilding Wizards squad, to slow him down.
Milwaukee, even amid its recent struggles, remains a team with championship-level talent. Getting Giannis back on the floor consistently is obviously a huge part of that equation.
His presence not only fuels the Bucks’ offense but also sets the tone defensively. Without him, Milwaukee has looked disjointed at times, lacking that signature downhill force and rim protection that he brings on both ends.
As for the rest of the injury report, the Bucks will be without Taurean Prince (neck), while the Wizards are dealing with several absences of their own. Sharife Cooper (calf), Corey Kispert (thumb), and Tre Johnson (hip) are all out, while rookie big man Alex Sarr is questionable with a right adductor issue.
Bottom line: barring any late setbacks, expect to see Giannis back in action tonight. And if history is any indication, the Wizards will have their hands full trying to contain him.
