Alex Antetokounmpo is heading back to Europe.
The former Dominican High School standout and Milwaukee Bucks forward will sign with Promitheas Patras B.C. of the Greek Basket League on Saturday, according to his agency.
Antetokounmpo, Giannis’ youngest brother, spent last season on a two-way contract with the Bucks. He appeared in 11 games for Wisconsin’s NBA team after his March 1 debut at Fiserv Forum against the 76ers, averaging 1.2 points in limited minutes.
That wasn’t the only stop on his 2022-23 path. Antetokounmpo also played for the Wisconsin Herd, the Bucks’ NBA G League affiliate in Oshkosh, and for Aris after spending the 2022-23 season with the Herd. He has also played in Spain after leaving Dominican High School in 2020 to turn professional.
Looking back on the journey, Antetokounmpo told the Journal Sentinel, “It’s been awesome, just being able to be around, around the team, see how the Bucucch as I can,”
“I’m blessed to be able to have that opportunity,” he said. “Definitely thank you to them for believing in me in that regard. It’s been awesome.”
He added, “Even though I’m getting that, that’s probably what caught me off guard the most.”
Antetokounmpo also said, “Even though I think that’s probably what caught me off guard the most.”
He reflected on the range of his basketball experience, telling the Journal Sentinel, “Looking back over his experience playing all over the world, Antetokounmpo told the Journal Sentinel the size of every player in the NBA is something not seen elsewhere on the globe.”

At Dominican High School, Antetokounmpo was a two-time all-state selection and averaged 20.1 points and 5.8 rebounds per game his senior season.
At the end of that season, he said, “I was talking to one of my close friends from high school and he was basically joking around, saying if only you went to Marquette you would have played every single level in Milwaukee. So, it’s just awesome.
Coming from Greece, playing in middle school, playing in AAU ball in Milwaukee and being able to represent the city as well as I can, it’s a big thing for me. Maybe me more than my other brothers because I was younger.”
He also said, “Milwaukee is home for me. It’s where I grew up. So to being able to represent the city as well as I can is a big honor for me, for sure.”
