Jordan Stolz Gets Hero Welcome At Brewers Opener

Returning home a hero, Olympic speed skating champion Jordan Stolz receives a warm welcome at the Brewers game, reflecting on his recent triumphs and future ambitions.

Jordan Stolz, the hometown hero, made a memorable appearance at the Milwaukee Brewers' season opener by throwing out the first pitch. Fresh off his triumphant performance at the Milan Cortina Olympic Games, where he snagged two golds and a silver, Stolz received a rousing standing ovation from the crowd. His recent feats at the World Sprint and World AllRound Championships in the Netherlands only added to the excitement surrounding his return.

Back home in Kewaskum and well-rested, Stolz shared the honor of the first pitch with Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love. Stolz delivered a high, arching throw to home plate, basking in the cheers of the fans.

“I decided to practice only the night before,” Stolz admitted, reflecting on his preparation. His previous first pitch in Milwaukee, following his triple crown at the World Championships, hadn’t quite reached home, but this time, he was ready.

Meeting Jordan Love was a highlight for Stolz. “It was nice to meet 'The Other Jordan,'” he said with a smile, expressing his admiration for the Packers.

The Brewers enjoyed the star-studded start to their season. Outfielder Jake Bauers commented on the unique experience of having athletes from different sports throw the first pitch. “It’s fun to talk to them and see how different it is,” Bauers noted.

Throughout the game, Stolz engaged with fans, signed autographs, and even did an on-field interview. Taking a rare break from his intense training schedule, he embraced the opportunity to relax and connect with the community.

Stolz's European adventure was nothing short of historic. Competing in eight races over four days, he took silver in the World Sprints and placed fourth in the World AllRound. The grueling schedule was unprecedented, leaving Stolz in need of a full week to recover.

Back in Milwaukee, Stolz is eager to share his journey. Reflecting on his aspirations, he mentioned his goal of joining legends like Shani Davis and Eric Heiden by winning both a world sprint and AllRound title. Although he fell short this time, his determination remains strong.

Looking ahead, Stolz plans to compete in the 2030 Olympics in France and the 2034 Games in Salt Lake City. “Being on home soil, it’s probably something I should do,” he remarked, highlighting the allure of competing in front of a home crowd.

Stolz's homecoming was not just a celebration of his recent achievements but also a testament to his enduring connection with the community and his bright future in the sport.
