Breaking T is leaning all the way into Jake Bauers’ resurgence with a new shirt, “Rake Bauers Yard Work Co.,” and Milwaukee’s first baseman has earned the joke.
Bauers, now 30, entered pro ball as a seventh-round pick and climbed as high as baseball’s No. 75 prospect in 2017 while he was in the Rays system. The big league path after that never fully matched the hype. Over parts of four seasons with the Rays, Guardians, Mariners, and Yankees, he put together a -1.5 bWAR and a .211/.302/.361 slash line, though the lefty still managed 39 home runs and 140 RBIs in 412 games.
His time with the Brewers didn’t start cleanly, either. In 2024, Bauers hit .199/.301/.361 with 12 homers and 43 RBIs.
But everything changed after he came back from injury in the second half of 2025. From September 5 through the end of the regular season, he appeared in 19 games and tore it up, batting .378/.472/.600 with two homers, four doubles and nine RBIs in 53 plate appearances.
The hot streak carried straight into October. In six postseason games, Bauers hit .308/.357/.615 with a homer, a double and three RBIs, then picked up right where he left off in 2026.
This year, he has played in 118 games and posted a .273/.382/.503 line while leading the team with 23 homers. He’s also added 19 doubles, 75 RBIs, 76 runs and nine steals, a sharp turn for a veteran first baseman/outfielder who has gone from struggling for traction to becoming a real force in Milwaukee.
