The Milwaukee Brewers might not boast a top 10 lineup, but they’re certainly making waves with multiple players featured in Buster Olney’s positional rankings for the 2026 season. Brice Turang shines at No. 4 among second basemen, while Jackson Chourio secures a spot in the top 10 for corner outfielders-a position brimming with talent.
Chourio Among the Elite Corner Outfielders
Let’s dive into the list of the top 10 left and right fielders, according to Olney:
- Aaron Judge, Yankees
- Juan Soto, Mets
- Corbin Carroll, Diamondbacks
- Fernando Tatis, Padres
- Ronald Acuna Jr., Braves
- Kyle Tucker, Dodgers
- Roman Anthony, Red Sox
- Riley Greene, Tigers
- Cody Bellinger, Yankees
- Jackson Chourio, Brewers
This lineup features some heavy hitters, especially in those top slots. Chourio’s presence in the 7-10 range is impressive, particularly with the rising star Roman Anthony making waves as one of last season’s standout prospects.
Chourio’s 2025 season mirrored his rookie year in many ways. Over 131 games, he launched 21 home runs, drove in 78 runs, stole 21 bases, and posted a .270/.308/.463 slash line with a 112 OPS+.
However, his WAR dropped from 3.8 to 2.2, partly due to a tougher year defensively. With the team lacking a center fielder for much of the season, Chourio had to shift from his natural corner outfield position.
After excelling defensively in 2024 with nine runs saved, he recorded a minus-4 last year.
Improving his plate discipline could elevate his game further. Chourio, known for his aggressive approach, drew nine fewer walks despite having 21 more plate appearances compared to his rookie year.
Returning to his preferred outfield position and enhancing his on-base percentage could unlock even more of his potential, allowing him to better utilize his speed. If he makes these adjustments, the 21-year-old could be on the brink of his first All-Star appearance.
