Brewers Prospects Just Made Milwaukees Infield Future Feel Very Real

Milwaukee Brewers infield prospects Jesus Made and Luis Pena made waves in the 2026 Futures Game, highlighting a bright horizon for the franchise.

The Brewers had a pair of their most prized young infielders on display at the 2026 Futures Game, and both Jesus Made and Luis Pena left their mark during Sunday afternoon’s showcase.

Keith Law of The Athletic highlighted the Milwaukee prospects in his recap, pointing out that Made kept finding ways to impact the game. He opened with a bloop single, added a groundout and a flyout, and also turned in a strong play against Gillen. Law noted that the groundout was “smoked” and registered as the hardest-hit ball of the day at 106.9 mph.

Pena, meanwhile, handled third base and made one standout defensive play of his own, snagging a pop fly down the left field line. At the plate, he showed the kind of bat speed that gets attention even when the results don’t follow. He went 0-for-3, flying out all three times, with two of those balls coming off the bat at 95 mph.

Made’s showing was the more productive one on the stat sheet. MLB’s top-ranked prospect finished 1-for-3 with an RBI, while Pena was hitless in his three trips. Pena is ranked 18th by MLB.

With the left side of Milwaukee’s infield still an area the Brewers need to address before the Aug. 3 MLB Trade Deadline, Made’s name is at least one to watch closely. For now, though, the bigger takeaway is simple: Milwaukee’s best young talent looked the part on a stage built for the game’s next wave.

Pirates Player Calls Out Pat Murphy After Ugly Brewers Sweep

The Brewers final series before the All-Star break left plenty of bad blood behind, and Ryan OHearn was at the center of it. Pittsburgh finished off a three-game sweep in Milwaukee, and OHearn took a pitch to the body in all three games, including both ends of Saturdays doubleheader and again on Sunday, making for a bruising few days against Brewers pitching.

OHearns frustration went beyond the hit-by-pitches themselves. He said he was upset about being plunked repeatedly and took issue with Pat Murphy after one of the incidents, adding another layer to an already ugly series between division rivals who wont have to wait long to see each other again. Brewers Fans Wont Love How One 2022 Deadline Miss Just Aged

The Brewers 2022 deadline haul has already been judged mostly through the lens of what Milwaukee got back for Josh Hader, but the lesser-noticed move involving Tristan Peters has aged in a way that stings a little more now. Peters was one of the pieces sent out as the front office tried to reshape the roster for that stretch run, and while the returns on that deadline were mixed at best, the outfielders path since then has kept moving in the opposite direction.

Now in Chicago after a chain of trades, Peters has turned into a real big-league story, the kind that makes old deadline decisions look sharper in hindsight. He has put together a strong season and earned an All-Star nod in 2026, which is the sort of development Brewers fans cant help but notice when they look back at how that summer unfolded and how little Milwaukee ultimately got from the moves around it.
