Brewers Prospect Dominates With 11 Ks On Opening Day

On an unforgettable Opening Day, the Brewers' Triple-A pitcher Robert Gasser delivers a masterclass in strikeouts, echoing the major league squad's excellence.

In a remarkable display of pitching prowess, two of the Milwaukee Brewers' starting pitchers have set the bar high with a handshake agreement to strike out 11 batters each on their respective Opening Days. Jacob Misiorowski dazzled against the Chicago White Sox in the majors, while Robert Gasser showcased his skills in Triple-A against the Norfolk Tides.

Let's dive into Gasser's impressive performance. Despite ending Spring Training on a high note with a revamped sinker grip, Gasser didn't make the Brewers' Opening Day roster.

However, he didn't let that deter him. In the Sounds' Opening Day game, Gasser struck out 11 batters over 5.2 innings, allowing just two hits and no earned runs.

Talk about making a statement!

Gasser leaned heavily on his sinker, throwing it 30% of the time. His pitch arsenal was well-rounded, with his sweeper following closely at 28%, changeup at 21%, four-seam fastball at 16%, and cutter at 6%.

The results? Five strikeouts each with his sweeper and fastball, and one with his sinker.

Of his 18 whiffs, eight came on the sweeper, four each on the changeup and four-seamer, and two on the sinker.

Gasser’s performance not only highlights his potential but also serves as a reminder of the depth and talent within the Brewers' pitching ranks. If this is just the beginning, fans have a lot to look forward to this season.
