Pat Murphy has another division title in hand, and now he’s got a Hall of Famer in his corner too.
After Milwaukee clinched the NL Central on Tuesday night with a 5-1 win over the Pittsburgh Pirates, Pedro Martinez took to X and made his feelings clear about the Brewers manager. Martinez called Murphy his favorite manager in the major leagues, and he didn’t stop there.
“I couldn’t be happier for the Brewers and my favorite manager. They earned it,” the Hall of Famer wrote on his post on X (formerly Twitter).
The win pushed Milwaukee to 94-57 and gave the franchise its fourth straight season with at least 90 victories. That kind of run doesn’t happen by accident, especially for a team working within financial limitations that usually separate smaller-market clubs from the bigger spenders.
Murphy has been a big reason the Brewers keep finding ways to win. At the major league level, he’s squeezed plenty out of the roster in front of him, and the results have shown up in the standings.
The manager’s style has helped define this team. He has built a culture around showing up on time, doing the work and taking responsibility, while still keeping a strong connection with his players. The standards are high, but so is the trust inside the clubhouse.

The Brewers are giving fans a head start on planning for October, with tickets for the first round of the 2026 postseason set to go on sale to the general public Wednesday, Sept. 23 at noon CT. Brewers Fan Stole The Show During Bo Naylors First Milwaukee Homer
Bo Naylors first Milwaukee home run at PNC Park ended up creating a bigger scene in the stands than it did on the field. A Brewers fan from Windsor, Ontario, Gavin Deblois, went after the ball in the seats but couldnt hang on to it, turning what should have been a simple souvenir grab into the kind of moment that immediately draws every camera in the park.
The home run still counted after an umpire review, and Deblois eventually got his cap back from a Pirates usher, so the night did not end empty-handed for the visiting Milwaukee supporter.
