Milwaukee has already clinched its spot in the 2026 playoffs and locked up a fourth straight NL Central title, with just eight games left in the regular season. There is still one piece of business to settle before the bracket is fully set. The Brewers’ Magic Number to secure a first-round bye and move straight into the NLDS is down to 3.
Any combination of three Brewers wins or Atlanta Braves losses will do the trick. That means the exact start of Milwaukee’s postseason run remains up in the air for now.
What is clear is that playoff baseball is coming back to American Family Field. It will be the fourth straight year and the fifth time in the last six seasons that the ballpark hosts postseason games.
For a franchise that once went 25 seasons - from 1983 to 2007 - without a single playoff appearance, the turnaround has been dramatic. Since 2018, when Christian Yelich helped push the Brewers to the National League Championship Series after arriving in a trade that offseason, Milwaukee has become a regular in the October picture.
The latest chapter in that run will start to take shape on September 22, when the Brewers host the Philadelphia Phillies and hold a “Rally for October” at the UW Credit Union plaza outside American Family Field. Vinny Rottino will host a Q and A with the former and future Brewers beginning at 4:30 p.m. CT. The team also said there will be T-shirts, discounted food and beer, and limited-release merchandise available.
Milwaukee’s recent rise has been built under manager Pat Murphy, who took over at the start of the 2024 season and has guided the club through two of the strongest regular seasons in baseball. After finishing 2025 with the best record in the majors, the Brewers are back atop MLB again this year.
The next step is waiting to see whether they can close the door on the Wild Card round and jump straight into the NLDS, where the first two games would be played at American Family Field. With Jacob Misiorowski leading the way and entering the conversation as the front-runner for the NL Cy Young award, the Brewers are aiming for a better October finish than they had a year ago.
