Angels May Be Eyeing A Risky Rotation Gamble

Dustin May's departure from the Brewers has opened up offseason speculation, with the Angels, Athletics, and Nationals emerging as potential new homes for the former starter.

The Brewers’ championship season ended with a ring, but the first signs of the offseason are already pointing toward a roster that could look different in 2027.

One of the names now floating around the market is Dustin May, and CBS Sports has him ranked as the No. 25 free agent this winter. In that projection, Milwaukee is not listed as a possible landing spot. Instead, Mike Axisa pointed to the Los Angeles Angels, Athletics and Washington Nationals.

"No. 25.

RHP Dustin May," CBS Sports' Mike Axisa wrote. "Potential landing spots: Angels, Athletics, Nationals. ...

It is not the best sign, though, that the Brewers, who know pitching as well as any team, couldn't fully unlock May after making him their big deadline rotation addition. Still, the combination of age and high-octane stuff makes him a nice upside play on a short-term contract, particularly for a rebuilding team that is willing to run him out there every fifth day regardless of results."

May’s Milwaukee stint was uneven. He made 10 starts in the regular season, posting a 5.65 ERA with 38 strikeouts and 15 walks in 36 2/3 innings. In the playoffs, he appeared in five games, including two starts, and finished with a 5.73 ERA over 11 innings.

Even with the numbers not matching the hope, May still filled a need for Milwaukee down the stretch as a depth arm. The Brewers got what they needed from him in the moment, even if the fit may not continue.

That possibility lines up with the rest of Milwaukee’s offseason picture. The team already has four players in free agency: Brandon Woodruff, Jake Bauers, JoJo Romero and May.

Among that group, the Brewers’ focus figures to stay on Bauers, Woodruff and perhaps Romero. May, meanwhile, could very well land a better payday somewhere else.

He may not be back in Milwaukee, but he did spend a few months there and leave with a World Series ring. For both sides, that still counts as a win.

Brewers Stars Just Gave Fans Another Championship Moment To Love

Less than a week after Milwaukees first World Series championship, Christian Yelich, Brice Turang and manager Pat Murphy found themselves in an entirely different spotlight, one that had nothing to do with a parade route or a clubhouse celebration. The trio made a surprise appearance on Saturday Night Live, a pop-culture detour that fit the mood of a franchise still riding the high of finally reaching the sports mountaintop.

The moment played as a lighthearted victory lap, with the championship trophy in tow and a comedic setup built around former cast member Bobby Moynihans Drunk Uncle character. For Brewers fans, it was another reminder that this title run has already produced more than the usual postgame memories, and the team is still collecting the kind of scenes that tend to stick long after the champagne dries up. Brewers Young Core Just Added Another Reason For Championship Buzz

The Brewers young core picked up another layer of credibility when Brice Turang and Jackson Chourio were named 2026 National League Gold Glove Award winners. Turang secured his second career Gold Glove at second base, while Chourio earned his first in left field, a fitting reward for two players who stood out all season as Milwaukees defensive standard-bearers.

For a club that has built so much of its identity around run prevention and athleticism, the recognition matters beyond the hardware. Turang and Chourio gave the Brewers impact defense at two premium spots, and their awards only strengthen the case that Milwaukees next championship push may be driven as much by gloves as by bats. Brewers Championship Run Just Delivered A Surreal National Spotlight Moment

The Brewers championship celebration took a surreal turn over the weekend when the club found itself in the middle of a national TV moment few teams ever get. Fresh off their first-ever World Series title, Milwaukee landed on Saturday Night Live, a sign of just how far the ripple effects of that run have reached beyond the ballpark and into the broader sports spotlight.

Former cast member Bobby Moynihan brought back his Drunk Uncle character for the episode, with Christian Yelich, Brice Turang and manager Pat Murphy part of the scene. It was the kind of crossover that only happens when a team has become must-see entertainment, and the Brewers even got a chance to meet Tom Hanks during the show, adding another odd little chapter to a season that already feels hard to top.
