Wolverines Secure Big Ten Title Share with Victory Over Minnesota
The Michigan Wolverines, ranked third nationally, have clinched a share of the Big Ten regular-season championship with a 77-67 win over the Minnesota Golden Gophers. This victory, celebrated by a packed house at the Crisler Center, boosts Michigan's record to an impressive 26-2 overall and 16-1 in the Big Ten.
This win marks Michigan's 16th conference title and the first since the 2021 team led by Juwan Howard. With three games left in the regular season, the Wolverines are just one win away from securing the championship outright.
Their next challenge is a matchup against the Illinois Fighting Illini, who stand at 22-6 overall and 13-4 in the conference. This crucial game is set for Friday, Feb. 27, at the State Farm Center in Champaign, Illinois.
Elliot Cadeau was the standout performer for Michigan, leading the team with 15 points, five rebounds, and four assists. L.J.
Cason also delivered a strong performance, contributing 14 points, five rebounds, two assists, and two steals. Aday Mara added to the victory with 10 points, five rebounds, and two assists.
Historically, Michigan has dominated the series against Minnesota, with a 100-71 all-time record. The Wolverines have also reached the 100-win milestone against other conference rivals such as Iowa, Michigan State, and Northwestern. Despite Minnesota's recent success at Crisler Arena, winning two of the last three matchups there, Michigan's home record against the Gophers now stands at 60-22.
