Spring is in the air, and that means the Michigan Wolverines are back on the field, gearing up for the 2026 season. But it’s not just about refining plays and building team chemistry right now.
Coach Kyle Whittingham and his staff are also in full recruitment mode, welcoming a slew of potential Wolverines to Ann Arbor over the next month. Let’s dive into the latest updates from the recruiting trail.
Michigan Leading for Former Georgia Commit
Gavin Honore, a 2027 three-star wide receiver, is currently soaking in the sights and sounds of Michigan during his three-day unofficial visit, which runs from March 17-19. This marks Honore's first trip to Ann Arbor, and the Bishop Gorman standout from Las Vegas seems to be enjoying his time.
Previously committed to Georgia, Honore has Michigan at the top of his list. His connection with coach Micah Simon and his lifelong admiration for the Wolverines are key factors.
Honore is already thinking ahead, planning his official visit while still in the middle of his current trip. He’s focused on building strong relationships with the coaching staff and finding the best fit for his playing style. Expect a final decision from him sometime this summer after he completes his official visits.
SEC Commit Visits Ann Arbor
The Wolverines recently welcomed 2027 four-star tight end Colt Lumpris for a visit. The towering 6-foot-6.5, 230-pounder from New Jersey, who committed to Alabama last December, is exploring his options. Re-offered by Michigan’s new tight ends coach Freddie Whittingham, Lumpris is open to building relationships and considering other programs.
Lumpris has official visits lined up with Penn State and Texas A&M, and he’s eyeing one with Michigan as well. If his recent visit went smoothly, don’t be surprised to see him back in Ann Arbor come June.
Quick Hits on Upcoming Visits
Several other recruits are making their way to Michigan this week. Today, 2027 four-star safety Tristan Hughes is visiting, followed by 2027 three-star offensive line commit Tristan Dare and 2027 four-star defensive back Tavares Harrington, who will be in town from Thursday through Saturday.
This weekend, two three-star offensive linemen, Conner Rutherford and Carter Jones, are set to visit. Jones’ visit is particularly intriguing as he just received an offer from Michigan a few weeks ago.
Lastly, an update on 2027 five-star defensive lineman Markus Fakatou: his visit has been rescheduled to April 18, aligning with Michigan’s spring game. Expect the Wolverines to roll out the red carpet for this top prospect.
Stay tuned as we continue to follow these developments closely, bringing you all the latest from the Wolverines’ recruiting efforts.
