Chip Lindsey is on the move again. After just one season as Michigan’s offensive coordinator, he’s heading to Missouri to take on the same role, bringing another chapter to a coaching career that’s been anything but static.
The news, first surfacing over the weekend, is now official. Lindsey will join the Tigers after a year in Ann Arbor that saw both promise and growing pains.
While Michigan didn’t hit every offensive benchmark in 2025, there were clear signs of progress under Lindsey’s direction. The offense took a step forward from the previous season, showing more creativity and rhythm-even if the results didn’t always follow on the scoreboard.
Lindsey’s coaching résumé is a well-traveled one, and Missouri adds another notable stop. Before joining the Wolverines, he spent two seasons calling plays at North Carolina, helping guide the Tar Heels through a high-paced, quarterback-friendly system. Prior to that, he held OC duties at UCF and Auburn, and also served as the head coach at Troy, where he led the program through multiple competitive seasons.
What Missouri is getting is a coach who’s seen just about every side of the offensive game-tempo, balance, spread concepts, and power sets. Lindsey’s adaptability has been a hallmark of his career, and it’ll be interesting to see how he tailors his system to the Tigers’ personnel and SEC competition.
For Michigan, this marks another shift in an ever-evolving offensive identity. The Wolverines will now be searching for yet another play-caller to shape their attack heading into 2026. Meanwhile, Lindsey steps into a fresh opportunity, this time in Columbia, with a chance to make an immediate impact in one of college football’s most competitive conferences.
