Michigan Got Dragged Into Another Brutal Sign Stealing Backlash

Annie Agar's attempt at a Halloween pun referencing a major college football scandal leaves fans unimpressed and social media abuzz with criticism.

Annie Agar drew plenty of attention over Halloween, but this time it came with a wave of criticism instead of laughs.

The NFL and college football influencer went with a University of Michigan-themed costume built around a pun tied to the Wolverines’ sign-stealing scandal. She dressed as a Bryce Underwood jersey and styled herself as Carrie Underwood while using the song “Before He Cheats” as part of the joke. It was a sports-heavy bit, which fits the kind of content that has made her popular with fans over the years.

But this one landed badly with a lot of people online. Fans tore into the costume, calling it a miss and, in some cases, much worse.

“Well… you failed this year at creative,” one person replied.

“I’m not exactly a Michigan fan, but this is just f-king stupid,” a second person added.

“Might be the dumbest costume of all time, honestly,” a third person wrote to Annie Agar.

“If most people have to try and figure out what this costume is, it’s a swing and a miss,” one final fan stated.

The reaction stood in sharp contrast to last year, when Agar dressed as Tua Tagovailoa holding a bag labeled “$50M/year,” a costume fans laughed at.

The Michigan scandal itself has already brought major punishment. The NCAA Committee handed the program more than $35 million in penalties and put it on 4-year probation. Former head coach Jim Harbaugh received a 10-year show-cause order, former head coach Sherrone Moore got a suspension and a 2-year show-cause order, and Connor Stalions received an 8-year show-cause order.

Michigan Defense Had One Problem Rutgers Kept Exploiting

Rutgers found a clear opening against Michigans defense, and AJ Surace kept taking what was there. The quarterback completed only three passes, but each one went for more than 10 yards and helped keep scoring drives alive. Jourdin Houstons 80-yard touchdown catch stood out as the kind of explosive play that can flip field position in an instant, and it also became Rutgers longest reception of the season.

For Michigan, the bigger concern was how often the defense helped Rutgers extend possessions with penalties. Those flags gave the Scarlet Knights extra chances to stay on the field and turn modest gains into points. It was the sort of self-inflicted problem that can make an otherwise solid defensive day feel a lot less secure, and it left Michigan with a clear issue to clean up moving forward. [Read more 🡒]

Michigans Jason Beck Debate Just Got Much Harder To Ignore

Michigans offense has spent nine weeks under a harsh spotlight, and the scrutiny on offensive coordinator Jason Beck is only getting louder. The numbers have been ugly enough to fuel the frustration, especially with Beck carrying the distinction of being the highest-paid offensive coordinator in college football, which naturally raises expectations for what the unit should look like by now.

The bigger complication is financial, because moving on from Beck would not be simple or cheap. His contract carries a buyout that could reach $9 million if Michigan fires him without cause, and the presence of quarterback Bryce Underwoods substantial NIL deal only adds another layer to any future decision-making. With coaches and donors reportedly reluctant to absorb that kind of cost, the next few games may go a long way toward determining whether the Wolverines keep riding with Beck or are forced into a much tougher conversation. Michigan State Game Just Added More Fuel To Michigans Night Rivalry Edge

The annual Michigan-Michigan State meeting is getting another prime-time spotlight, with the Nov. 7 showdown in Ann Arbor set for a 7:30 p.m. ET kickoff on Peacock. It will be the fifth straight night game in the rivalry and the latest night game Michigan has hosted in a season, adding another layer to a matchup that already tends to carry plenty of edge.

Michigan enters with the better defensive profile and the clearer statistical advantage, while Michigan State is working through a difficult season under a first-year head coach. ESPN analytics also has the Wolverines as the favorite, which only sharpens the sense that this one arrives with Michigan in a strong position, even before the lights come on. [Read more 🡒]
