Michigan Wolverines Make Key Recruiting Moves
The Michigan Wolverines are making waves on the recruiting front, securing a commitment from Las Vegas Centennial safety Maxwell Miles. This announcement comes hot on the heels of another major pickup, Chicago Morgan Park safety Darrell Mattison. These two commits mark the first for new head coach Kyle Whittingham and his staff, signaling a strong start for their recruiting efforts.
Key figures in these recruiting victories were safeties coach Tyler Stockton and defensive coordinator Jay Hill, who played pivotal roles in bringing Miles and Mattison on board.
Maxwell Miles, a 6-foot-2, 195-pound safety, expressed his excitement about joining the Wolverines. “I enjoyed the visit from the beginning to the end from the Michigan staff and community giving my family and the VIP treatment," Miles shared.
"I can’t wait to pay them back on and off the field. The facilities were awesome and to see The Big House was amazing.
I’m proud and happy to be a part of the University of Michigan family.”
Miles is a versatile athlete, boasting 77 tackles, eight interceptions, and numerous other defensive stats last season. His athletic prowess extends to the basketball court as well, showcasing his all-around abilities. Before committing to Michigan, Miles considered offers from Minnesota and UNLV.
Meanwhile, Michigan is also eyeing in-state talent with Belleville wide receiver Charles Britton III planning an official visit on June 19. Britton, who stands at 5-foot-10 and weighs 167 pounds, is drawing significant interest, with Missouri, Alabama, and Oklahoma also in the mix. Ranked as the No. 18 junior in Michigan, Britton's recruitment is heating up.
Adding to their recruiting pursuits, Michigan offered a scholarship to Bloomfield Hills Brother Rice defensive end Jayden Bell. The 6-foot-4, 210-pound sophomore is already a national recruit, attracting attention from powerhouse programs like Notre Dame, Penn State, and Alabama. Bell, a four-star recruit and the No. 4 sophomore in the state, has been making an impact since his freshman year.
As Michigan continues to build its future roster, these commitments and offers highlight a strategic approach to securing top-tier talent under the new coaching regime. The Wolverines are clearly setting the stage for a promising future on the field.
