Michigan football is making strategic moves to bolster its 2027 recruiting class, and Wednesday brought some encouraging news for the Wolverines.
Tavares Harrington, a highly sought-after four-star safety from the Chicago area, has put Michigan on his radar. Standing at an impressive 6-foot-3 and 175 pounds, Harrington included the Wolverines in his top-10 list, alongside powerhouses like Alabama, Georgia, Notre Dame, Florida State, Nebraska, Ole Miss, Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Kentucky.
Harrington, ranked No. 109 overall by the 247 Sports composite rankings, is scheduled to visit Ann Arbor next weekend, as reported by Ethan McDowell of The Wolverine.
Michigan is a serious contender for this elite defensive back, but the road ahead is challenging. Despite a complete overhaul of their coaching staff with the hiring of Kyle Whittingham, the Wolverines have made significant strides in Harrington’s recruitment.
The upcoming visit is crucial. Michigan needs to leave a lasting impression and secure a return for an official visit. Currently, Georgia is the only program marked as "warm" on his 247 Sports profile, with official visits to Georgia and Alabama already on the books for the summer.
While a spring visit alone won't seal the deal for Michigan, getting Harrington back on campus is a promising step. Georgia, Alabama, and Notre Dame have hosted him multiple times, and Michigan aims to join that list.
Securing Harrington for a third visit, particularly an official one this summer, would solidify Michigan as a formidable player in this recruiting battle.
