Ex-OSU Star Faces 40 Years In Prison After Shocking Confession

Former Ohio State player Marcus Williamson's guilty plea to multiple bank robberies raises concerns about post-football struggles among former Buckeyes.

Ohio State's football program has seen its share of successes on the field, but off the field, some former players have faced significant challenges. The most serious of these involves Darron Lee, who was recently arrested on grave charges. But he's not the only one facing legal troubles.

Marcus Williamson, a former defensive back for the Buckeyes, has also encountered difficulties after his college football career. Williamson, who played under Urban Meyer, never quite made a name for himself on the field. Since leaving Ohio State, he's struggled to find his footing, culminating in a series of legal issues.

Recently, Williamson pled guilty to a string of bank robberies in the Columbus area. According to reports, he admitted to robbing nine banks, making off with at least $22,000. His actions have led to nine felony charges, and he's scheduled for sentencing on June 25th.

During these robberies, Williamson either suggested or directly claimed he had a weapon, which significantly ups the stakes in his sentencing. He's facing a potential sentence ranging from probation to 40 years in prison. Given the severity of the charges, probation seems unlikely.

During his time with the Buckeyes, Williamson only started in his final year and didn’t manage to secure a spot in the NFL draft. The transition from college athlete to life beyond football can be challenging, and it appears Williamson struggled with this change. As he faces the consequences of his actions, there's hope he can find the support he needs to address his issues.
