Tom Izzo is wasting no time getting Michigan State’s 2027 board moving.
After offering four-star top-40 center Jaydn Jenkins on Sunday, the Spartans came right back on Monday and extended another offer, this time to four-star top-60 combo guard Joshua Tyson out of Ohio. It’s a quick one-two punch that gives Michigan State two elite 2027 targets on consecutive days and signals that the staff is already pushing hard to get the class rolling.
Jenkins, from Warminster, Penn., was the first public top-50 offer in the 2027 cycle for Izzo. Fans immediately latched onto his profile, and it’s easy to see why.
He brings elite length and a physical edge near the basket, making life difficult for anyone trying to finish around him. He’s also the kind of rim presence who doesn’t just stand and watch when a teammate gets beat - he reacts.
His jumper may not be fully polished yet, but he has shown enough at the high school level to knock it down and keep defenses honest.
Tyson’s offer followed quickly after Michigan State was reported to be hosting him on Monday. His visit didn’t take long to turn into something more.

There still haven’t been many public offers announced in the 2027 class, but Michigan State landing two elite prospects back-to-back makes it clear Izzo is building momentum early. It also suggests the Spartans are aiming to lock in the class before the 2026-27 season even begins.
That class likely won’t be a big one, either. Michigan State’s 2026 group, including transfers, was five players deep.
The 2025 class had just two commits, Cam Ward and Jordan Scott. The 2027 class looks like it could follow that same smaller footprint, with two signees the most likely outcome.
That makes sense given what the roster could look like after the 2026-27 season. The Spartans are expected to lose Fears, Anton Bonke, and Coen Carr, though Fears is not yet a lock to leave. There’s also the possibility of surprise NBA draft departures, including Jasiah Jervis or Jeremy Fears, and a player or two could always hit the transfer portal.
For now, though, the picture is pretty straightforward: Michigan State is starting early, targeting elite talent, and giving its 2027 class a head start with two offers in two days.
