Detroit's basketball scene just witnessed a remarkable moment as Lilly Williams, a standout senior from Howell, clinched the prestigious Miss Basketball Award. Despite only one year of high school basketball under her belt, Williams has made a lasting impression, earning this top honor from the Basketball Coaches Association of Michigan alongside the Detroit Free Press.
Standing tall at 6-foot-6, Williams has committed to Michigan State, bringing her towering presence and skill set to the collegiate level. Her journey to this accolade is unique, having previously led her home-school team to two national championships before making her mark at Howell. This season, she was instrumental in driving Howell to a stellar 23-2 record and capturing the Kensington Lakes Activities Association championship.
Williams’ impact on the court was undeniable, winning the Miss Basketball Award by a significant margin. She amassed an impressive 3,402 points in the voting, leaving Muskegon's Mariah Sain in second with 1,973 points. Following them were Se’Crete Carter of Belleville with 1,776 points and Kendyl Smith of Flint Powers with 1,651 points.
