The Boston College transfer has brought his reputation with him to Coral Gables, where he’s emerging as one of the most physical defenders in the group. Early in fall camp, the Hurricanes’ back end is being talked about as one of the best in the country, and Thornton keeps standing out inside that mix.
What makes him such a useful piece is how much he brings against the run. Miami’s run defense took a hit after losing its two star defensive linemen, especially in the run game, and Thornton gives the Hurricanes a player who can help fill that void.
