Miami’s 2027 class is getting some serious shine at the top end.
247Sports’ preseason state player of the year board put three Hurricanes commits in that group, a haul that matches Alabama and Indiana and comes in behind only Minnesota. For Miami, that means Florida ATH A’mir Sears, Illinois QB Israel Abrams and South Carolina EDGE Jaiden Bryant all entered the 2026 season as the top high school player in their respective states.
That kind of spread says plenty about the reach of the class. Miami is landing impact talent from three different states, and no other ACC program has more than one player on the list.
Minnesota led the way with four state winners - Iowa, Minnesota, North Dakota and South Dakota - while Alabama and Indiana each had three. Alabama’s trio featured quarterback Trent Seaborn in Alabama, Delaware linebacker Tysir Young and Louisiana quarterback Elijah Haven. Indiana’s group included D.C. running back Da’Jon Talley-Rhodes, in-state receiver Monshun Sales and New Jersey quarterback Lukas Prock.
The full 247Sports preseason players of the year by state list covered the country from Alabama through Wisconsin, with Miami’s trio standing out near the top of the board. Sears was listed as Florida’s winner, Abrams took Illinois, and Bryant was the choice in South Carolina.
