LSU junior third baseman Trent Caraway is headed to Miami.
Caraway, a right-handed hitter, put together a .243 average this past season at LSU, finishing with three doubles, one triple, two home runs, 16 RBIs and one stolen base. He posted a .713 OPS in 30 games and made 24 starts, with 18 of those coming at third base and six at second base.
He’s spending the summer in the Cape Cod Baseball League with the Bourne Braves, where he’s batting .226 with five RBIs across 10 games.
Before LSU, Caraway spent his first two college seasons at Oregon State from 2024-25. His strongest year came in 2025, when he played in 64 games and made 63 starts while hitting .267 with 12 home runs and 47 RBIs. He handled third base and the leadoff spot for the Beavers and helped push them to the College World Series, earning Corvallis Regional Most Outstanding Player honors along the way.
According to 64Analytics, Caraway ranks as the 414th-best player in the transfer portal. His move gives Miami nine top-500 incoming transfers, including five inside the top 250.
He becomes Miami’s 11th transfer addition, part of a class ranked No. 5 nationally and first in the ACC. The other nine teams in the top 10 are all SEC programs, while North Carolina sits at 11, followed by Georgia Tech at 12 and Pittsburgh at 13 among ACC schools.
Caraway is a 2023 graduate of San Juan Capistrano, Calif., JSerra. Perfect Game ranked him as the 30th-best player and 14th-best shortstop in that class, and he also earned California Gatorade Player of the Year honors as a senior.
