Five-star edge rusher Jalanie George has narrowed his list to four schools and put a date on the decision.
George announced last night that Auburn, Miami, Washington and Wisconsin are the finalists, and he plans to make his college choice on Thursday, October 1st.
The 6-foot-3, 255-pound prospect stars at Desert Edge High School in Goodyear, Ariz., where he’s built a résumé that has him rated as a five-star recruit by On3. The outlet lists him as the No. 23 overall player in the 2028 class, the No. 6 edge rusher nationally and the No. 2 player in Arizona.
He’s also producing this season. Desert Edge is 3-1, and through four games George has piled up 24 tackles, 5.5 tackles for loss and one sack. His junior year numbers were even louder: 54 tackles, 16 tackles for loss, 6.5 sacks, two pass breakups, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery.
On the recruitment side, Washington appears to be the team with the momentum right now. According to the On3 RPM, the Huskies have the traction to land him.
Auburn is very much in the mix as well after getting him on campus this past weekend. Both schools offered him in January, making them relatively late arrivals in the process.
Miami’s pitch got a look in June, when George attended the Hurricanes Legends Camp. The Hurricanes already have two pledges in the 2028 class: three-star quarterback Knox Annis and four-star offensive tackles Kweli Fielder. Landing George would give defensive line coach Jason Taylor another major addition.
