Miami remains firmly in the mix for one of the biggest names in the 2027 class.
Five-star point guard Cayden Daughtry has cut his recruitment to 14 schools, with the Hurricanes still on the list alongside Kentucky, Florida State, Iowa, UConn, Florida, Arkansas, Michigan, Tennessee, USC, Louisville, Providence, Villanova, and Vanderbilt.
Daughtry’s fall schedule is already filling up fast. He has visits lined up for Florida State from Aug.
28-30, Tennessee from Sept. 4-6, Iowa from Sept.
11-13, UConn from Sept. 19-21, Florida from Sept.
25-27, Miami from Oct. 16-18, and Arkansas from Oct. 30-Nov.
He was already on Miami’s campus once before, taking a game-day visit last season for the Hurricanes’ matchup with North Carolina. He’ll be back in South Florida again on Oct. 17, when he is scheduled to attend the Miami Hurricanes football game against Florida State.
Miami’s staff, led by Jai Lucas, has made Daughtry a clear priority in this class. Right now, the Hurricanes and Iowa are viewed as the leaders in his recruitment.
The 247Sports Composite Recruiting Rankings have Daughtry as a five-star prospect, the No. 10 overall player in the country, the No. 4 player at his position, and the No. 5 player in Florida. He plays for Calvary Christian Academy in Fort Lauderdale, where he posted 26.5 points, 5.2 assists, 4.5 rebounds, and 2.7 steals per game this past season. He also helped guide the Eagles to a 24-1 record and the FHSAA Class 3A State Championship.
Daughtry’s summer only strengthened his profile. He put together a huge run at the Peach Jam, averaging 28 points, six rebounds, and five assists per game while earning MVP honors for the event.
