Alonzo Alvarez was a standout, driving in three runs, while Daniel Cuvet added two more to the tally. Jake Ogden contributed with a homer, and Derek Williams and Brylan West each chipped in with key hits, as Miami continued their unbeaten streak in midweek games, now standing at 5-0.
Miami, now 13-4 on the season, snapped UCF's five-game winning streak with an impressive 14-hit performance. They were efficient at the plate, going 9 for 23 with runners on base, a sharp contrast to UCF’s 4 for 18 in similar situations.
The Hurricanes utilized seven pitchers throughout the game. TJ Coats, now 2-0, was solid in relief, allowing just one run in 1 1/2 innings. Starter Sebastian Santos-Olson set the tone, giving up only one run on four hits over 1 1/2 innings before handing the ball over to the bullpen.
The game saw Miami take an early lead with Ogden's second home run of the season. Although UCF briefly went ahead 2-1 with a home run and a ground out in the third, the Hurricanes responded in the fourth. West's base hit tied the game, and Miami surged ahead with a three-run inning, highlighted by Alvarez’s RBI and a timely double from Cuvet.
Despite Austin Jacobs' three-run homer for UCF cutting the lead to 6-5 in the sixth, Miami’s bullpen held firm. Cuvet and Williams added insurance runs with singles in the seventh, and Alvarez drew a bases-loaded walk to seal the 9-5 win.
