Miami Hurricanes Stun Creighton with Dominant 11-1 Victory in Eight Innings

Miami Hurricanes dominate Creighton with a commanding 11-1 victory, highlighted by standout performances and strategic plays.

The Miami Hurricanes put on a clinic at Mark Light Field, cruising to an 11-1 victory over the Creighton Bluejays in just eight innings. This win not only secured the series but also showcased the Hurricanes' prowess with some clutch two-out hitting and another standout performance from left-hander Rob Evans.

Evans, now boasting a 5-1 record, was in top form. He allowed just one run on three hits and struck out seven over 6.1 innings.

Notably, his second strikeout marked the 100th of his career-a milestone moment for the lefty. On the other side, Creighton's Ian Koosman struggled, giving up four runs on six hits in four innings, taking the loss.

The Bluejays drew first blood with a solo shot from Connor Capece in the second inning. However, Miami quickly responded. Sophomore Fabio Peralta, continuing his hot streak, smashed a bases-clearing double, bringing home Dylan Dubovik and Vance Sheahan to give the Hurricanes a 2-1 lead.

Daniel Cuvet, fresh off a two-homer performance, added another to his tally with a massive 430-foot blast in the third inning. This home run tied him with Yonder Alonso for third-most in program history, a testament to his power at the plate.

The Hurricanes extended their lead in the fifth. Michael Torres showcased his speed with a triple, and a subsequent misplay by Creighton's right fielder allowed him to score, making it 4-1.

Miami kept the momentum going in the sixth. Peralta delivered an RBI single, and later scored on a hit by Torres, pushing the lead to 6-1. The seventh inning saw Alex Sosa score on a sacrifice fly from Brylan West, adding another run.

The eighth inning was the knockout punch. Cuvet, Sosa, and West each contributed RBI hits, ballooning the score to 11-1 and triggering the mercy rule.

With this dominant performance, the Hurricanes are set for a potential series sweep against the Bluejays. Fans can catch the action live on ACCNX and WVUM 90.5 FM as Miami aims to continue their winning streak.
