Mario Cristobal and the Miami Hurricanes have reason to celebrate as they remain in the running for a top-tier recruit. Roman Igwebuike, a standout four-star linebacker from Chicago's Mount Carmel, has narrowed his list of potential colleges to twelve, with Miami making the cut. Alongside the Hurricanes, Tennessee, USC, Clemson, Indiana, Missouri, Georgia, Michigan, Ohio State, Notre Dame, Ole Miss, and the Florida Gators are all vying for his commitment.
Igwebuike's impressive talent has attracted offers from a total of 41 schools, including notable programs like Auburn, Arizona State, and Florida State. Standing at 6-foot-3 and weighing 225 pounds, he's ranked as the No. 95 player in the 2027 class by 247Sports, the No. 6 linebacker nationwide, and the No. 5 player in Illinois.
Last season, Igwebuike's performance was nothing short of remarkable. He racked up 115 total tackles, with 13.5 for loss, and added seven sacks to his resume. His defensive prowess also included two interceptions, three forced fumbles, a fumble recovery, three pass breakups, and 17 QB pressures.
The On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine currently gives Ohio State a slight edge with an 18 percent chance of landing Igwebuike, while Miami is close behind with a 15 percent chance.
