The Miami Hurricanes have set their sights on a promising talent in four-star recruit Jermaine Cobbins. This dynamic two-way player is turning heads with his impressive stats and national rankings, making him one of the top prospects in the country.
The Hurricanes are diligently working to secure their future by scheduling numerous visits with high school recruits. While they've recently added All-ACC quarterback Darian Mensah, they're clearly thinking long-term.
After clinching a National Championship, Miami has become a hot spot for recruits like Cobbins, a four-star cornerback who’s drawing national attention. Although a visit to Miami is in the cards for Cobbins, the exact date is still up in the air.
Cobbins, who hails from Springfield High School in Robertson County, is making waves on both sides of the ball as a cornerback and wide receiver. Over two seasons, he's caught 46 passes for 934 yards and scored 13 touchdowns. On defense, he's racked up 89 tackles, three tackles for loss, and five interceptions.
Standing at six feet and 170 pounds, Cobbins is ranked 38th nationally, fourth among cornerbacks, and first in Tennessee for the class of 2028, according to 247Sports Composite.
His talent hasn't gone unnoticed, with interest and offers pouring in from top programs like Florida State, Alabama, Nebraska, Ohio State, Ole Miss, Oregon, Tennessee, Texas A&M, and Vanderbilt, among others.
Here’s a look at his upcoming visits:
- Alabama: March 13
- Georgia: March 17
- Tennessee: March 19
- Vanderbilt: March 21
- Texas A&M: March 22
- Florida State: April 2
- Florida Gators: April 3
- Indiana Hoosiers: April 18
The Hurricanes, Buckeyes, and Auburn Tigers are still in the process of scheduling their visits.
Cobbins has already made unofficial visits to a few schools:
- Vanderbilt: Oct. 19, 2024
- Missouri: Nov. 8, 2025
While it’s early in the recruiting process, Miami has a golden opportunity to make a lasting impression on Cobbins. The Tennessee Volunteers, being a local option, could pose a significant challenge as recruits often lean towards staying closer to home.
As more offers come in, the Hurricanes have a chance to stand out, especially with their recent National Championship win and the solid leadership of defensive coordinator Corey Hetherman. It's a thrilling time for Miami, and Cobbins could be a key piece in their future success.
