The Miami Hurricanes are setting their sights on a promising addition to their football roster, eyeing a four-star wide receiver with NFL lineage. Fresh off a National Championship run, the Hurricanes are not resting on their laurels, diving headfirst into high-stakes recruiting to keep their momentum rolling.
As the basketball season wraps up, the focus shifts to football spring training. The Hurricanes are making waves in the recruiting arena, becoming finalists for top-tier talents like five-star tight end Ahmad Hudson.
Among the prospects catching their eye is Julius Jones Jr., a standout wide receiver from St. Thomas Aquinas High School in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
With 51 receptions for 750 yards and eight touchdowns in just 13 games as a sophomore, Jones Jr. is a player to watch.
Jones Jr. carries an impressive pedigree, being related to former NFL stars Julius Jones Sr. and Thomas Jones. Standing at 5-11 and weighing 175 pounds, he’s ranked 68th nationally, 12th among wide receivers, and seventh in Florida for the class of 2027 according to 247Sports Composite. He’s scheduled for an unofficial visit with the Hurricanes on March 25, with an official visit lined up for May 29-31.
Interest in Jones Jr. is widespread, with offers from powerhouse programs like Florida State, Auburn, Georgia, LSU, Michigan, and Ohio State, among others. He’s also set to visit Oregon and Notre Dame both unofficially in April and officially in June, along with an official visit to Florida in mid-June.
The Hurricanes’ recruiting efforts have been bolstered by the remarkable freshman season of Malachi Toney, who led the nation with 109 receptions for 1,211 yards and 13 touchdowns. This success has turned the eyes of several high school wide receivers toward Miami.
The Hurricanes’ current class of 2027 commits, all from Florida, include elite wideouts Ah’Mari Stevens and Nick Lennear. Adding Jones Jr. to this lineup could secure the program’s competitiveness for years to come. While there’s still a journey ahead before Jones Jr. makes his final decision, the Hurricanes are positioning themselves as a formidable contender in the recruiting race.
