Asharri Charles isn’t just climbing the rankings-he’s rocketing up them.
The four-star defensive end out of Venice High School made one of the biggest leaps in the final Rivals300 update for the 2026 cycle, jumping 99 spots from No. 184 to No. 85 overall. That kind of rise doesn’t happen by accident-it’s the result of a dominant junior season that firmly planted Charles on the national radar.
Let’s talk production. Charles was a force off the edge in 2025, piling up 107 tackles, 15.5 tackles for loss, 13.5 sacks, and two forced fumbles.
That performance earned him first-team all-state honors and helped lead Venice to a Florida 7A state championship. And this wasn’t a one-year breakout-he was just as disruptive as a sophomore, with 98 tackles, 15.5 TFLs, and 11 sacks.
The consistency is there, the motor is non-stop, and the trajectory is undeniable.
Now, Charles is a consensus top-20 EDGE prospect across the major recruiting services-Rivals, 247Sports, and ESPN. He’s gone from a promising name to a national-level recruit, and Miami was quick to lock him in.
The Hurricanes beat out a loaded list of contenders for Charles’ commitment. Florida, LSU, Florida State, Texas A&M, and Penn State were all in the mix, but Miami won out-and it’s not hard to see why. The Canes are building something real on the defensive line, and Charles fits the mold of the explosive, high-upside EDGE rusher that can thrive in their system.
He’s part of a deep and talented 2026 defensive line class for Miami that includes:
- Logan Nagle (DL) - DePaul Catholic (NJ)
- DeAnthony Lafayette (EDGE) - Lake Nona (FL)
- Keshawn Stancil (DL) - Clayton (NC)
- Asharri Charles (EDGE) - Venice (FL)
- Tyson Bacon (DL) - Hoover (AL)
- Frederic Sainteus (DL) - St.
John Neumann Catholic (FL)
- Isaac Chukwurah (DL) - Caravel Academy (DE)
- Jordan Campbell (EDGE) - Miami Northwestern (FL)
That group is as geographically diverse as it is talented, and it’s a big reason why Miami’s 2026 recruiting class is turning heads. The Hurricanes signed 30 high school prospects and landed inside the top 10 nationally across major recruiting boards-No. 11 in the 247Sports composite and No. 9 in On3’s industry comparison. That’s good for first in the ACC.
And with a College Football Playoff run that came within a touchdown of a national title, Miami now has the kind of momentum that resonates with elite recruits. The message is clear: the U is back in the national conversation, and they’re not just chasing stars-they’re developing them.
Asharri Charles is the latest example of that blueprint in motion. A high-motor EDGE with production, pedigree, and upside, he’s the kind of player who could be wreaking havoc in the ACC sooner rather than later.
