Caleb Gaskins Cracks Top 10 in Rivals150, Adds Firepower to Miami's Future
The Hurricanes have a rising star on the way-and the rest of the country is starting to take notice. Miami commit Caleb Gaskins has climbed to No. 8 overall in the latest Rivals150 rankings for the class of 2026, making him one of the most highly touted high school prospects in the nation.
At 6-foot-9, Gaskins has the kind of game that jumps off the page-and the tape. His blend of size, skill, and production has evaluators across the board paying attention, even if they don’t all agree on exactly where he ranks.
Rivals currently has him the highest at No. 8, while 247Sports slots him at No. 20 and ESPN places him at No. 13.
But regardless of the number, the message is clear: Gaskins is elite.
What’s fueling the hype? It starts with what he’s already accomplished.
As a junior at Christopher Columbus High School, Gaskins played a pivotal role in leading the Explorers to a national championship. He averaged 13.6 points and 6.3 rebounds per game during the season, showing off a well-rounded skill set and a knack for making winning plays.
But he didn’t stop there. Gaskins took his game to another level on the Nike EYBL circuit in the spring and summer, averaging 15.7 points and 7.3 rebounds across 15 games.
Then came Peach Jam-where the stakes and talent level both ramp up-and Gaskins delivered again. He put up 20.0 points and 10.2 rebounds per game, while shooting nearly 60% inside the arc, a testament to both his efficiency and physicality around the rim.
That kind of consistency across multiple platforms is what separates Gaskins from the pack. He doesn’t just flash potential-he produces.
And now, he’s earned a spot in the 2026 McDonald’s All-American Game, becoming the seventh Miami signee to receive that honor. He joins a notable list of Hurricanes legends, including Tito Horford, Steve Edwards, Darius Rice, Dewan Hernandez, Lonnie Walker IV, and Jalil Bethea.
There’s still time for Gaskins to climb even higher. The final 2026 rankings update will come after the postseason all-star games, giving him another stage to showcase his game against the best of the best.
Miami’s Present Is Strong-And the Future Looks Even Brighter
While Gaskins headlines the future, the current Hurricanes squad is putting together a strong campaign of its own. At 17-5, Miami sits fifth in the ACC and has shown it can compete with anyone thanks to a well-balanced roster that scores and rebounds with efficiency.
Malik Reneau has been the engine, averaging 19.9 points per game and establishing himself as one of the conference’s most reliable scorers. Tre Donaldson has been the floor general, orchestrating the offense with 16.0 points and 6.1 assists per game. In the paint, Ernest Udeh Jr. continues to control the glass with 9.9 rebounds a night.
The supporting cast has delivered too. Forward Shelton Henderson is quietly having a highly efficient season, putting up 14.3 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 2.1 assists per game while shooting a scorching 60.8% from the field. Guard Tru Washington brings energy on both ends, averaging 11.9 points and 4.0 rebounds while leading the team in steals at 1.9 per game.
Put it all together, and you’ve got a Miami team that’s not just built for now-but one that’s laying the foundation for something special. And with Caleb Gaskins on the way, the Hurricanes might be adding a future star to an already potent mix.
