Carson Beck's NFL Combine Performance: A Potential Game-Changer?
As the NFL Scouting Combine kicks into high gear, all eyes are on Miami Hurricanes quarterback Carson Beck. He’s set to showcase his skills during the drills, and while he’s currently projected as a third-round pick or later, his performance could very well elevate his draft stock.
Beck's journey is nothing short of compelling. At 23, he spent just one season with the Hurricanes, but what a season it was.
Completing 338 of 467 passes for an impressive 72.4 percent, he amassed 3,813 yards and 32 touchdowns over 16 games. His leadership was pivotal in taking Miami to their first National Championship appearance in over 20 years, even if they fell just short of the title.
This year’s quarterback class isn’t considered particularly strong. With Oregon’s Dante Moore opting to stay in college and Ole Miss’s Trinidad Chambliss returning for a sixth year, the field is wide open. Fernando Mendoza of Indiana is the top quarterback prospect, expected to go first to the Las Vegas Raiders.
Beck has already had formal meetings with the Miami Dolphins, Cleveland Browns, and New York Jets-all teams grappling with quarterback uncertainties after missing the playoffs. While Beck might not be seen as a franchise savior just yet, he could be a valuable backup option.
The Dolphins are undergoing significant changes, with new GM Jon-Eric Sullivan and head coach Jeff Hafley at the helm. They’re reportedly moving on from Tua Tagovailoa due to his concussion history and have released key players like Tyreek Hill, signaling a fresh start.

Beck’s journey from Jacksonville is remarkable. Starting as a backup at Georgia, he was part of two National Championship teams before becoming a starter.
However, a UCL injury during the SEC Championship game in 2024 altered his path. Initially declaring for the 2025 NFL Draft, he withdrew, entered the transfer portal, and joined the Hurricanes, leaving a lasting impact in just one season.
