The Miami Hurricanes are in a heated battle with the Ohio State Buckeyes, Georgia Bulldogs, and others for the highly sought-after four-star tight end, Jordan Karhoff. As spring training approaches, the Hurricanes are making aggressive moves to strengthen their roster, particularly at the tight end position, where they currently lack depth.
Jordan Karhoff, hailing from St. Francis DeSales High School in Columbus, Ohio, is turning heads as a top prospect.
Standing at 6-5 and weighing 227 pounds, Karhoff is ranked 226th nationally and 12th among tight ends for the class of 2027. His impressive stature and skill set have drawn interest from major programs.
He’s narrowed his choices to five: Texas A&M, Ohio State, Virginia Tech, Georgia, and Miami. Offers have also poured in from other notable schools like Michigan State, Missouri, and Auburn.
The Hurricanes are riding high after a National Championship appearance, which has certainly helped in attracting top-tier talent. Despite losing key players like All-Americans Rueben Bain Jr. and Francis Mauigoa to the NFL Draft, the Hurricanes are expected to maintain their competitive edge next season. They've also bolstered their lineup with significant transfer portal additions, including All-ACC quarterback Darian Mensah.
Recruiting high school talent remains a priority for Miami, recognizing the long-term benefits it brings. Last season saw impactful performances from freshmen like running back Girard Pringle Jr., safety Bryce Fitzgerald, and wide receiver Malachi Toney. However, the tight end position remains an area of focus due to its relative inexperience.
Elija Lofton had a standout season with 23 catches for 218 yards and three touchdowns, but beyond him, the group lacks experience. Players like Luka Gilbert, Gavin Mueller, and Cole McConnathy II, who’s transitioning from edge rusher to tight end, are ones to watch.
Karhoff has made several unofficial visits to the Buckeyes but has yet to visit the Hurricanes. A tour of the Coral Gables campus and Hard Rock Stadium could be pivotal in swaying his decision.
Adding to the mix, Miami has brought in Mike Viti as the new tight ends coach. Formerly the offensive line coach for the Army Black Knights, Viti is expected to enhance the blocking capabilities of the tight end group, addressing a key area from last season.
As the recruiting race heats up, the Hurricanes are poised to make a strong push for Karhoff, hoping to add his talents to their promising roster.
