Miami Hurricanes Advance in Battle for Top 2027 Wide Receiver Talent

Miami continues its push to reload at wide receiver, emerging as a finalist for another top 2027 pass-catcher.

The 2027 recruiting cycle is starting to take shape, and two standout wide receivers-Javien Robinson and Julius Jones Jr.-are already commanding serious attention. Both are four-star talents with the kind of upside that has Power Five programs jockeying for position. Let’s break down where things stand with each player and what makes them such coveted prospects.

Javien Robinson Narrows His List to Five

McKeesport (Pa.) wideout Javien Robinson has trimmed his recruitment down to five schools: Miami, West Virginia, Syracuse, Pittsburgh, and Rutgers. At 6-foot-2 and 189 pounds, Robinson brings a physical presence to the position, and his production backs it up. During McKeesport’s 2025 postseason run, he led the way with 16 catches for 317 yards and five touchdowns-a stat line that speaks to his ability to deliver in big moments.

Recruiting services are split on where Robinson ranks nationally, but there’s no denying his talent. 247Sports pegs him as the No. 145 overall player and the No. 22 wide receiver in the 2027 class.

Meanwhile, the Rivals Industry Ranking places him at No. 338 overall and No. 45 at the position. That kind of disparity isn’t uncommon early in the cycle, especially for a player still rising on the national radar.

Robinson’s recruitment has been heating up since he visited Miami for the Hurricanes’ win over Florida back in September 2025. That trip proved pivotal-he received an offer from wide receivers coach Kevin Beard after a meeting with head coach Mario Cristobal. The Hurricanes have been aggressive on the recruiting trail, and Robinson is clearly a priority.

But don’t sleep on Syracuse in this race. The Orange have a key connection in wide receivers coach Josh Gattis, whose relationship with Robinson has been described as one of the most important in his recruitment. That kind of familiarity and trust can go a long way in these battles, especially when other schools are trying to make up ground.

Miami in the Mix for Julius Jones Jr. as Well

Robinson isn’t the only elite wideout Miami is targeting in this cycle. The Hurricanes are also firmly in the hunt for Julius Jones Jr., a four-star receiver from national powerhouse **St.

Thomas Aquinas** in Fort Lauderdale. Jones recently named his top eight: Miami, LSU, Oregon, Michigan, Florida, Texas, Notre Dame, and Florida State.

Jones is a polished route-runner with high-level production to match. In the 2025 season, he posted 58 receptions for 876 yards and 14 touchdowns.

And when the lights were brightest-St. Thomas Aquinas’ state title win over Lakeland-he delivered with seven catches for 127 yards.

That kind of performance in a championship setting only solidifies his reputation as a big-game player.

There’s also a strong pedigree here. Jones is the son of former Notre Dame running back Julius Jones, who racked up over 3,000 rushing yards and 27 touchdowns in college before heading to the NFL as a second-round pick. The younger Jones took an unofficial visit to Notre Dame on September 13, 2025, and given the family ties, the Irish figure to be a serious contender.

Still, Miami has made a strong impression. Jones visited the Hurricanes on August 31, 2025, and was in the building to see them knock off Notre Dame. That kind of game-day atmosphere can leave a lasting impact, especially when you’re watching two of your top schools go head-to-head.

Final Thoughts

Miami is positioning itself as a major player in the 2027 wide receiver market, with both Javien Robinson and Julius Jones Jr. in their sights. Robinson brings size, strength, and postseason production, while Jones offers polish, pedigree, and a knack for showing up when it matters most.

Both recruitments are far from over, but one thing’s clear: these are two names to know as the next wave of top-tier receiving talent prepares to take the college football stage.
