Miami Set to Host Five-Star PG Cayden Daughtry for Unofficial Visit
The Miami Hurricanes are continuing to make moves on the recruiting trail, and their next visitor is a name to know: Cayden Daughtry, a five-star point guard from the class of 2027.
The 6-foot, 155-pound floor general out of Calvary Christian Academy (Fort Lauderdale, FL) is slated to be in attendance for Miami’s matchup against No. 11 North Carolina on Tuesday, Feb.
- It’ll mark Daughtry’s first unofficial visit to Coral Gables - and it’s coming at a time when the Hurricanes are looking to build serious momentum in the 2027 cycle.
Daughtry is already one of the most sought-after prospects in the country. According to the 247Sports Composite Rankings, he’s the No. 16 overall player in the nation and the No. 4 point guard in his class. That kind of ranking doesn’t just happen - it’s earned, and Daughtry’s game backs it up.
He’s a dynamic lead guard who thrives with the ball in his hands. Whether he’s creating for others or getting into the lane to finish through contact, Daughtry plays with a poise and confidence well beyond his years. His feel for the game is elite, and that’s what’s caught the attention of top programs across the country.
His offer list already reads like a who’s who of college basketball: Michigan, BYU, Ohio State, Ole Miss, Pittsburgh, Iowa, Florida State - and now Miami is firmly in the mix. He’s already taken a visit to Michigan and mentioned that he’s planning to check out Iowa, Florida State, and Miami as part of his recruiting process.
For the Hurricanes, this visit could be a big one. Not only is Daughtry a local product, but he’d be joining a recruiting class that’s already off to a strong start. Assistant coach Jai Lucas has already landed a major piece in five-star power forward Caleb Gaskins, and adding Daughtry would give Miami one of the most exciting one-two punches in the 2027 class.
Of course, a lot can happen between now and signing day, especially with a 2027 prospect. But make no mistake - getting Daughtry on campus, especially for a high-profile game like this, is a significant step. A strong showing from the Hurricanes, both on the court and in the atmosphere at the Watsco Center, could go a long way in leaving an impression.
Miami’s staff has shown they’re not afraid to swing big. And with Daughtry, they’ve got another chance to land a game-changing talent.
