The Miami Hurricanes are starting to heat up on the recruiting trail, and the latest development has them firmly in the mix for one of the more intriguing defensive prospects in the 2027 cycle - four-star safety Zayden Gamble.
Gamble, a standout from the powerhouse program at St. Thomas Aquinas in Fort Lauderdale, was in Coral Gables this past weekend, taking in the atmosphere during the Miami vs.
California basketball game. That visit came just before he dropped his top 10 schools list - and yes, Miami made the cut.
Joining the Hurricanes in Gamble’s top group are Georgia, Florida, Oregon, Ohio State, LSU, Notre Dame, Georgia Tech, Texas A&M, and Auburn.
While he hasn’t set a commitment date yet, Gamble's inclusion of Miami among these national heavyweights is another sign that the ‘Canes are gaining traction with elite talent.
Ranked No. 216 nationally in the 2027 247Sports Composite and the No. 23 player in the state of Florida, Gamble brings a solid mix of athleticism and football IQ to the table. At 5-foot-11 and 165 pounds, he’s a rangy, instinctive safety who’s already shown he can match up with top-tier competition. He was one of the headliners at the 2025 Under Armour All-American Future 50 Showcase at IMG Academy - a stage reserved for the best of the best in the underclassman ranks.
Miami’s recent recruiting momentum - with four early commitments already locked in for the 2027 class - is starting to build a foundation. Now, the question is whether that wave can turn into something bigger with a pledge from Gamble. He’d be a statement addition, not just because of his ranking, but because of what he represents: a local star from a nationally respected program who could anchor the back end of the Hurricanes’ defense for years to come.
It’s still early in the process, but the signs are encouraging. Miami’s staff has clearly made Gamble a priority, and he’s reciprocating that interest. The Hurricanes are in the fight - and if they can close, it could be a big win on and off the field.
