Miami Commit Caleb Gaskins Earns Elite Honor Before Senior Season

Miamis latest five-star addition is turning heads nationally-and his McDonalds All American nod is just the beginning.

Caleb Gaskins is headed to one of high school basketball’s biggest stages - and he’s taking the Miami Hurricanes with him.

The 6-foot-9 forward out of Christopher Columbus High School in Miami has been named a 2026 McDonald's All American, earning a coveted spot in the prestigious showcase set for March 31. It’s a major milestone for one of the top prospects in the country, and a significant moment for Miami’s basketball program, which continues to build national credibility on the recruiting trail.

Gaskins, a five-star recruit and Melbourne, Florida native, is the second-highest rated commit in Miami history, according to the 247Sports Composite. That’s no small feat for a program that’s been steadily climbing the ranks in recent years.

ESPN ranks him as the No. 13 overall prospect in the 2026 class, with Rivals and 247Sports placing him at No. 14 and No. 20, respectively. However you slice it, Gaskins is firmly entrenched among the elite.

His résumé backs it up. As a junior, Gaskins averaged 13.6 points and 6.3 rebounds per game for a Columbus squad that didn’t just win - they dominated, claiming a national championship.

But it’s not just the high school season where he’s made noise. On the Nike EYBL circuit with Nightrydas Elite, Gaskins elevated his game, posting 15.7 points and 7.3 rebounds over 15 games.

And when the lights were brightest at Peach Jam, he delivered again - averaging 20.0 points and 10.2 rebounds while shooting nearly 60% from inside the arc. That kind of production in elite competition speaks volumes about his readiness for the next level.

With his selection, Gaskins becomes just the seventh player in Miami Hurricanes history to earn McDonald's All American honors - joining a list that includes Tito Horford (1985), Steve Edwards (1992), Darius Rice (2000), Dewan Hernandez (2016), Lonnie Walker IV (2017), and Jalil Bethea (2024). That’s a strong lineage, and Gaskins has the tools to carry the torch.

Looking ahead to the All American Game, Gaskins will suit up for the West squad, a roster stacked with high-level talent. He’ll be joined by names like Maximo Adams (North Carolina), Jason Crowe Jr.

(Missouri), and Cameron Williams (Duke). It’s a who’s who of future college stars - and Gaskins will have a chance to show where he stacks up.

For Miami, this is more than just another accolade. It’s a signal that the Hurricanes are continuing to land - and develop - some of the best talent in the country. Gaskins isn’t just a big-time recruit; he’s a foundational piece for a program with big-time aspirations.

March 31 can’t come soon enough.
