The Miami Hurricanes are making some serious noise on the recruiting trail, and the latest development only adds fuel to the fire. Four-star linebacker Noah Glover, one of the top defensive prospects in the 2027 class, has narrowed his list of schools, and Miami is right in the thick of it.
Glover, a standout at Battlefield High School in Haymarket, Virginia, has trimmed his recruitment to six finalists: Georgia, Texas A&M, Miami, Virginia Tech, Oregon, and Notre Dame. That’s a heavyweight group, and Miami being in the mix speaks volumes about the program’s national reach and the staff’s ability to connect with elite talent across the country.
At 6-foot-1 and 205 pounds, Glover brings a blend of athleticism and instinct that jumps off the tape. He’s currently ranked as the No. 125 overall prospect and the No. 8 linebacker in the country by 247Sports.
On3’s industry ranking has him at No. 211 overall and the No. 11 linebacker nationally. Both services agree on one thing: he’s the No. 2 prospect in the state of Virginia - a region that’s been producing high-level defensive talent in recent years.
Glover’s game is built around versatility. He’s quick to diagnose plays, shows fluid movement in coverage, and doesn’t hesitate to step downhill and deliver a hit in run support. He’s the type of linebacker who can stay on the field all three downs, and in today’s game, that’s gold.
And it’s not just Glover that Miami fans should be keeping an eye on. The Hurricanes are also in the hunt for another top linebacker in the 2027 class - Jalaythan Mayfield out of Lincolnton High School in North Carolina. Mayfield, also a four-star, dropped his top schools on February 5, and Miami made the cut alongside Georgia, Indiana, Kentucky, and Oregon.
Mayfield is one of the top junior prospects in North Carolina and brings a similar skill set to Glover - rangy, athletic, and disruptive. If Miami can land one of these guys, they’re getting a potential future centerpiece for the defense.
If they somehow land both? That’s the foundation of a linebacker corps that could anchor the defense for years.
Looking at the bigger picture, Miami’s recruiting classes are starting to build serious momentum. For 2027, the Hurricanes already have commitments from a handful of in-state prospects:
- Demarcus Deroche (ATH) from Cardinal Gibbons in Fort Lauderdale
- Ah'Mari Stevens (WR) from Chaminade-Madonna Prep, another Fort Lauderdale pipeline
- Jaylyn Jones (S) out of McArthur in Davie
- Zaquan Linton (OT) from Palm Beach Central in West Palm Beach
That’s a solid early haul, especially with the emphasis on locking down South Florida - always a priority for Miami.
And the 2026 defensive class? It’s deep and diverse, with talent from all over the map:
- Asharri Charles (ATH) from Venice, FL
- Keshawn Stancil (DL) from Clayton, NC
- JJ Dunnigan (S) out of Manhattan, KS
- Camdin Portis (CB) from Myers Park in Charlotte
- Jaelen Waters (CB) from Armwood in Seffner
- Jordan Campbell (EDGE) from Miami Northwestern
- DeAnthony Lafayette (EDGE) from Lake Nona in Orlando
- Isaac Chukwurah (DL) from Caravel Academy in Delaware
- Justin Edwards (LB) from Edgewater in Orlando
- Frederic Sainteus (DL) from St.
John Neumann in Naples
- Logan Nagle (DL) from DePaul Catholic in New Jersey
- Karsten Busch (LB) from St. Xavier in Louisville
- Brody Jennings (CB) from Mandarin in Jacksonville
- Cortez Redding (S) and Jontavius Wyman (CB) from Jonesboro, GA
- Tyson Bacon (DL) from Hoover, AL
That’s a recruiting footprint that stretches from Florida to Kentucky to New Jersey and beyond - a clear sign that Miami is casting a wide net and winning battles in multiple regions.
The Hurricanes are building something, and the pursuit of high-level linebackers like Glover and Mayfield is just the latest chapter. With a strong foundation already in place and a coaching staff that’s clearly connecting with top-tier talent, Miami is setting itself up to be a serious player on the national stage in the years to come.
Stay tuned - the next few months could be big in Coral Gables.
