Miami Dolphins Eye Local Talent at Pro Day
As the NFL draft approaches, the Miami Dolphins are in the spotlight with their eyes set on some local talent from the University of Miami. At the recent Miami Pro Day, standout performances turned heads, including Keionte Scott's impressive 4.33-second 40-yard dash and Rueben Bain Jr.'s agility around the pads. Dolphins GM Jon-Eric Sullivan and head coach Jeff Hafley were present, naturally drawn to the prospects in their own backyard.
The Dolphins, picking at number 11, might find perfect fits in Bain and Francis Mauigoa. Bain, who is scheduled to meet with the Dolphins, could bolster their pass rush opposite Chop Robinson. Meanwhile, Mauigoa presents a solution to their offensive line needs, potentially starting at guard and transitioning to right tackle if Austin Jackson departs after next season.
While it's uncertain if these players will still be available at pick 11, the unpredictability of the draft could play in Miami's favor. With seven picks in the first three rounds, the Dolphins have options.
Cornerback Keionte Scott, projected to go by the third round, could fill the gap left by Kader Kohou's move to the Chiefs. Additionally, Jakobe Thomas, a formidable presence in the secondary with five interceptions last year, remains an intriguing prospect.
With the draft around the corner, keeping an eye on these hometown stars could be a savvy move for the Dolphins.
Miami Hurricanes Baseball Makes a Statement
In college baseball, the Miami Hurricanes made headlines by clinching an ACC series victory. The series opener saw the Hurricanes break a tie in the tenth inning, thanks to Daniel Cuvet's bases-loaded play, which turned a potential error into a game-changing moment.
Despite a narrow loss in the second game, the Hurricanes bounced back in the series finale. Derek Williams' grand slam fueled an early 8-0 lead, and despite a tense ninth inning, they secured an 8-6 win.
The Hurricanes' bats came alive, scoring six or more runs in each game. Lazaro Collera's six scoreless innings on Saturday highlighted the strong starting pitching. Although Rob Evans had a challenging outing on Friday, his overall performance this season remains reassuring.
Looking ahead, the Hurricanes face FGCU midweek before hosting Virginia Tech, aiming for another series win to improve their ACC standing.
