FSU-Miami? Rece Davis Makes College GameDay Prediction

As BYU looks to maintain its unbeaten streak, the prospect of hosting College GameDay for their showdown with Notre Dame could make for an electrifying scene at LaVell Edwards Stadium.

No. 10 BYU is sitting on the edge of something big, and Rece Davis thinks College GameDay might be headed to Provo if the Cougars keep winning.

On the College GameDay podcast, Davis said “there's a really good chance” the show will be at BYU for the Cougars’ October 17 matchup with Notre Dame, as long as both teams arrive unbeaten. He made clear he wasn’t breaking news or reporting a done deal - just looking at the board and seeing a game that could end up owning the weekend.

“I don't know where else you would have gone the first four weeks if you really looked at the storylines, and then we're at Iowa this week,” Davis said. “And, you know, who knows? I'm not trying to give away secrets because no decision has been made, but I think there's a really good chance we'll be at BYU.”

He circled back to the idea again, stressing that nothing has been decided yet while also pointing to the matchup’s appeal.

"I'm not trying to give anything away. That may not happen...

I'm gonna get in trouble with PR and probably with management for even bringing that up. We haven't come close to making a decision on that yet.

I'm just looking at the schedule...it might be the best game of the weekend, you know, and both might still be undefeated...it certainly would be a contender."

BYU still has work to do before that conversation gets real. The Cougars have to get through TCU and Iowa State first.

They’re expected to be favored in both, but FPI gives BYU only a 59.6% chance to win both games. Notre Dame, meanwhile, has a 90% chance to beat North Carolina and Stanford and reach the BYU game without a loss.

If that happens, the stage in Provo would be enormous. The last time BYU hosted College GameDay was in 2008, when the Cougars faced TCU. The Horned Frogs won that game convincingly, and it remains the only time GameDay has ever been in Provo.

BYU has had a more recent relationship with FOX’s Big Noon Kickoff, hosting the show twice in the last two years for games against Arizona in 2024 and Utah in 2025. The Cougars won both of those games.

And if BYU and Notre Dame both walk in undefeated, the game at LaVell Edwards Stadium would be one of the biggest, if not the biggest, ever played there.

Miami Tackle Samson Okunlola Has A Chance To Change The Narrative

Samson Okunlola is starting to look like the kind of player Miami has been waiting for along the offensive line. For a program that has spent plenty of time searching for stability up front, that is the kind of buzz that can matter.

Okunlola arrived at Miami with five-star expectations out of the 2023 high school class, and his college career has gradually started to match the recruiting hype. He has shown more improvement and consistency in his playing time, which is exactly what the Hurricanes need from a blindside protector heading into the next stretch. If he keeps trending the right way, the early draft chatter may be only the beginning of a much bigger story. [Read more 🡒]
