Jalen Brown is back on the market.
The former Miami Gulliver Prep star and once-coveted Hurricanes recruiting target is entering the transfer portal after his dismissal from Arkansas, his latest reset in a college career that has already taken him from LSU to Florida State to the Razorbacks. Brown said this week that the legal charges he faced have been dismissed, and he plans to move on after one season in Fayetteville.
Arkansas dismissed Brown in April after he was arrested on a charge of hindering apprehension/prosecution. Now, with that charge dismissed, he’s looking for his next stop.
Brown arrived in college with a big-time reputation. In the 2023 recruiting class, he was rated as the No. 68 overall prospect and No. 12 wide receiver in the 247Sports Composite. ESPN had him at No. 62 in the ESPN300 and the No. 10 wide receiver in the class.
Miami was in the mix early. Brown was a longtime target for the Hurricanes and got a Miami offer after attending a camp before his freshman year of high school. He ultimately chose LSU, picking the Tigers over Miami, Texas, Michigan, Florida State and others.
At Gulliver Prep, Brown put together a huge high school resume: 111 catches for 2,396 yards and 25 touchdowns. He also piled up 797 kickoff return yards and finished with 3,272 all-purpose yards.
His college path has been stop-and-start ever since. Brown spent his true freshman season at LSU in 2023, played in three games and didn’t record a catch while preserving his redshirt.
He transferred to Florida State for 2024 and appeared in nine games, finishing with eight receptions for 75 yards. His best outing for the Seminoles came against California, when he had two catches for 29 yards.
Brown then landed at Arkansas and opened last season as a starter. He started five games for the Razorbacks before a serious leg injury against Notre Dame ended his year. In 2025, he finished with 12 catches for 167 yards and two touchdowns.
