The Tennessee Titans made their roster call on Sunday and K.J. Osborn was the odd man out.
Tennessee released the former Miami Hurricanes receiver as the team trimmed down to its 53-man roster, ending his brief stint with the Titans before he ever got into a game. The club had signed Osborn in April to a one-year deal, planning to use him as veteran depth behind Calvin Ridley, Wan'Dale Robinson, Elic Ayomanor and Chimere Dike.
Osborn was grouped in with a crowded receiver cut line that also included Will Levis, Hendon Hooker, Bryce Oliver, Mason Kinsey and several others. He last appeared in a regular-season game in 2024, but he never suited up for Tennessee.
The move came after a career that has taken Osborn from one stop to the next. Minnesota picked him in the fifth round, 176th overall, in 2020 after his lone season at Miami. He spent four years with the Vikings and posted 158 catches for 1,845 yards and 15 touchdowns from 2020 through 2023.
His next chapter began in 2024, when he signed with New England, was waived in December, then claimed by Washington. He finished that season with seven receptions for 57 yards and one touchdown in eight combined games. The Commanders let him go last summer, and he later spent time on Atlanta’s practice squad late in 2025.
At 29, Osborn has enough accrued seasons that he does not have to clear waivers, so another team can sign him right away. A practice-squad veteran exemption is the more likely route.
Before the NFL, Osborn built his Miami resume after transferring from Buffalo. In 2018, he had 53 catches for 892 yards and seven touchdowns.
The following season, he led the Hurricanes with 50 receptions for 547 yards and five touchdowns, while also adding 16 punt returns for 255 yards. He finished with 1,018 all-purpose yards.
There was a different outcome for another former Hurricane in Tennessee. Xavier Restrepo made the Titans’ initial 53-man roster, keeping his spot while Osborn was moved off the team. For Miami fans tracking their alums, it leaves one Hurricane out and another still building chemistry with former Miami quarterback Cam Ward.
