Florida State’s injury problems just got a whole lot worse.
Duce Robinson, the Seminoles’ top wide receiver, will miss the rest of the 2026 season after suffering a torn ACL, according to ESPN’s Pete Thamel. Robinson went down in Saturday’s 36-24 loss to Clemson and left the game in the second quarter after trainers examined his knee in the injury tent. He never returned, though he stayed on the sideline to support his teammates.
After the game, former head coach Mike Norvell didn’t have much to offer on Robinson’s status.
"I don’t have much information on Duce," Norvell said on Saturday night. "I just know that at halftime he got checked out and knew that he wouldn’t be back in the game. There will be a process as we get into next week and see exactly where that is."
The news is a brutal blow for a player who came back to Tallahassee instead of entering the NFL Draft after 2025. Robinson returned with the hope of raising his draft stock and helping Florida State get back on track. Neither mission has gone the way he wanted.
The Seminoles are 3-5 and riding a three-game losing streak, and Robinson’s production, while still strong, hasn’t matched what he did a year ago. He leads the team with 24 catches for 438 yards and 4 touchdowns, but he’s averaging 54.8 receiving yards per game after posting 90.1 per game last season.
Even in a shaky passing attack, Robinson still flashed big-play ability. He went over 100 receiving yards against Alabama and Miami, and against the Crimson Tide he hauled in 6 passes for 135 yards and a touchdown.
Robinson’s rise at Florida State has been fast. After two seasons before transferring to Tallahassee, he had 39 catches for 747 yards and 7 touchdowns. In 2025, he broke out in a major way with 56 receptions for 1,081 yards and 6 scores, leading the conference and earning First-Team All-ACC honors.
He also had seven games with more than 100 receiving yards at Florida State. His biggest stat line came in the 77-3 win over East Texas A&M on September 6, 2025, when he finished with 5 catches for 173 yards and 2 touchdowns.
There is still a path for Robinson to return to Florida State in 2027 for his fifth and final year of eligibility. If his recovery goes well, he should be back on the field next fall. If he chooses to go pro, though, he won’t be able to do much during the pre-draft process.
For now, Florida State has to move on without one of its biggest weapons. Micahi Danzy, Jayvan Boggs, and Jasen Lopez are expected to shoulder more of the load, while freshman Devin Carter returned last weekend and sophomore Tae'Shaun Gelsey has picked up a small share of snaps in recent games.
The Seminoles are also missing Ousmane Kromah and Samuel Singleton Jr., leaving them without their top three playmakers. Singleton Jr. does not appear likely to suit up again this fall.
Florida State heads to Boston College on Saturday, September 7, with kickoff set for 12:00 p.m. ET on The ACC Network.

Notre Dame Just Got A CFP Reality Check Before Miami
The first College Football Playoff rankings arrived with the kind of early-season jolt that always reshapes the conversation, and for Miami it offered an immediate look at how the committee sees the road ahead. The release also underscored just how different the CFP picture can look from the AP Top 25, with several teams landing in spots that did not match the poll most fans have been following.
Notre Dame was one of the clearest examples of that gap, sitting in a position that sent a message about how the committee is weighing resumes rather than reputation. Hunter Yurachek said the process is tough in a season with so much competition, and the broader board reflected that tension, with 10 SEC teams included and Indiana coming out as the highest-ranked Big Ten team despite some surprising factors. Ahmmon Richards Just Exposed Where Miami Can Hurt Notre Dame
Ahead of Miamis upcoming game with Notre Dame, former Hurricanes wide receiver Ahmmon Richards offered a sharp breakdown of what he sees on both sides of the ball. He dug into quarterback Tyler Carrs style, the Irish defensive looks and the offensive tendencies that could shape the matchup, giving a former players eye for the details that often decide these games.
Richards also pointed to specific plays and individual matchups worth watching, which is exactly the kind of early scouting report Miami fans will want to hear before a big test. For a Hurricanes team looking for any edge it can find, the value is in those little tells and tendencies, and Richards made it clear there are places where Notre Dame can be attacked if Miami reads the game correctly. Miami Needs Damon Wilson II To Reignite Its Pass Rush Vs Notre Dame
Damon Wilson II arrived from Missouri with the kind of early-season burst that made him look like a difference-maker on Miamis defensive front, but the last few games have been a quieter stretch. Even so, the Hurricanes have still found ways to get after the quarterback, with Marquise Lightfoot helping keep the sack production moving while the front seven has otherwise leaned on its strength against the run.
Against Notre Dame, Miami could use Wilson to rediscover the pressure that made him such an intriguing addition in the first place. The Hurricanes have been vulnerable through the air, even as theyve stood out nationally against the run, so getting more disruption off the edge would go a long way toward balancing out a defense that has been sturdy in one area and stretched in another.
