LSU cornerback Mansoor Delane is gaining traction as a potential first-round pick for the Miami Dolphins. Both Chris Perkins from the Sun Sentinel and NFL Network’s Daniel Jeremiah have pegged him as Miami’s choice at No. 11 following the Senior Bowl. With the NFL scouting combine on the horizon, Jeremiah detailed why Delane could be a great fit for general manager Jon-Eric Sullivan and coach Jeff Hafley.
Jeremiah highlighted Delane's versatility, noting, “He’s scheme-diverse. Whether in press or off coverage, he’s incredibly smooth and fluid.
He reads plays well and makes impactful plays on the ball.” With veteran free agents Rasul Douglas and Jack Jones potentially leaving, Delane could fill a crucial role as a lockdown cornerback.
Originally from Maryland, Delane spent three years at Virginia Tech before transferring to LSU for his senior season. In 2025, he recorded two interceptions and 11 pass deflections, despite teams often avoiding his side of the field.
Jeremiah remarked, “He’s a loose, smooth athlete with toughness. The main question is his top-end speed, which we’ll see at the combine.”
If the Dolphins opt against Delane, cornerback remains a deep position in this draft. Jeremiah also pointed out the strength of the defensive line class, particularly with edge rushers, wide receivers, and linebackers.
The Miami Hurricanes are adding to the edge-rusher depth, with Rueben Bain expected to be a first-round pick and Akheem Mesidor also in the mix. Jeremiah described Bain as a player whose physicality and intensity go beyond the stat sheet, despite not having ideal dimensions. He ranks Bain as the third-best edge defender, behind Texas Tech’s David Bailey and Ohio State’s Arvell Reese, but projects Bain to go before Reese.
Jeremiah praised Mesidor, saying, “He’s versatile, playing both inside and outside. His power and relentless energy make him a nightmare for blockers. He’s an absolute warrior, though his age might be a consideration for teams.”
With many players in this draft being 24 or 25, teams may weigh age differently as they make their selections.
