Demarcus DeRoche Shuts Down Speculation and Commits Fully to Miami Hurricanes

Miami Hurricanes' 4-star commit Demarcus DeRoche solidifies his future amid speculation, emphasizing strong ties with the coaching staff and a bright outlook for the 2027 recruiting class.

Demarcus DeRoche is making waves in the recruiting world by firmly planting his flag with the Miami Hurricanes. The talented 4-star tight end from Fort Lauderdale has decided to end the recruiting whirlwind and commit fully to the Hurricanes, shutting down any further interest from other programs.

DeRoche, who initially committed to Miami last August, found himself in the spotlight as other schools, including Texas and Florida State, showed keen interest. Despite the allure of these programs, DeRoche's loyalty to the Hurricanes prevailed. He’s eager to contribute to Coach Mario Cristobal’s vision of building a top-tier class for the 2027 cycle.

The standout from Cardinal Gibbons High School had been contemplating visits to other schools but has now decided to focus on Miami. He aims to be an integral part of the welcoming committee for future recruits visiting the campus during the spring and summer.

In a conversation with Brian Dohn of 247Sports, DeRoche highlighted the relationships he’s built as a key factor in his decision. "It's the coaches, Coach Cristobal and how he led them to the national championship game this year.

Coach Frank Tucker, the director of recruiting relations, is energetic and supportive. Miami has helped me with a lot," DeRoche shared.

The pressure is always on Miami to secure commitments from local talent, and DeRoche’s decision is a significant win. South Florida is a hotbed for football talent, and every major program aims to establish a presence there. By securing DeRoche’s commitment, Miami not only keeps a local star but also gains a player who will actively engage with future prospects on campus.

This week has been particularly fruitful for Miami in the recruiting arena. Alongside DeRoche’s commitment, five-star wide receiver Monshun Sales announced an upcoming official visit to Miami in June, adding to the positive momentum for the Hurricanes' recruiting efforts.
