Brylan West Ignites 7-Run Comeback as Miami Triumphs Over FAU

Brylan West ignites a thrilling comeback as the Miami Hurricanes rally in the ninth inning to overcome FAU and extend their perfect season.

In a thrilling display of resilience, the No. 17 Miami Hurricanes pulled off an electrifying comeback to defeat FAU 11-7 on Wednesday night.

This victory, powered by a seven-run explosion in the ninth inning, keeps Miami's perfect record intact at 10-0 as they gear up for a challenging series against No. 10 Florida.

Brylan West was the hero of the night, driving in three crucial runs, including a pivotal two-run double that gave Miami the lead. The Hurricanes' ninth-inning fireworks didn't stop there.

Daniel Cuvet launched a two-run homer, his sixth of the season, narrowing the gap to 7-6. Jake Ogden then delivered a crushing three-run double, sealing the fate of the Owls and capping off the scoring frenzy.

Derek Williams and Alex Sosa also contributed to the Hurricanes' offensive surge with two RBIs and one RBI, respectively. On the mound, Sebastian Santos-Olson made his second start, allowing three runs, only one of which was earned, over 4 1/3 innings.

The game was a rollercoaster of emotions. Miami held a 4-3 lead in the seventh before Packy Bradley-Cooney's blown save, courtesy of a game-tying single, shifted the momentum. A fielding error by Bradley-Cooney allowed FAU to edge ahead 5-4.

FAU seemed poised to hand Miami its first loss, extending their lead to 7-4 in the eighth inning. However, Ryan Bilka (1-0) weathered the storm, despite allowing two runs, and ultimately set the stage for Miami's dramatic comeback.

With the bases loaded in the ninth, Bilka kept his cool after a timely mound visit, inducing a ground ball to close out the game.

Looking ahead, the Hurricanes are set to host No. 10 Florida in a highly anticipated three-game series starting Friday night at 7:00 p.m. on ACCN. This matchup promises to be a true test of Miami's early-season dominance.
