Tyler Herro Stuns with 24 Points in Triumphant Return for Heat Victory

Tyler Herro's impactful return sparks new dynamics for the Heat as Coach Spoelstra navigates a lineup in flux amid player health challenges.

Tyler Herro made a splashy return to the Miami Heat lineup in their victory over Atlanta, showing why he's a 2025 All-Star. Coming off the bench, Herro dropped a game-high 24 points on an efficient 9-of-14 shooting in just 23 minutes. He also chipped in with four rebounds, three assists, and a steal, making his presence felt all over the court.

Head coach Erik Spoelstra is keeping his options open regarding Herro’s role moving forward. While Herro started on the bench, Spoelstra emphasized the flexibility of the lineup as the team looks to maximize the remaining games of the season.

“We’re just trying to get him out there and manage the minutes,” Spoelstra explained. “No timeline, no overthinking.

We finally have our full roster, and we want everyone to contribute to the team effort.”

Herro’s return comes after a 15-game absence due to a rib injury. Sporting a flak jacket for protection, he’s eager to finish the season strong, having played only 12 games so far. “I just want to be out there with the team, get comfortable, and stay healthy,” Herro said, focusing on consistency and health as he becomes extension-eligible this offseason.

Pelle Larsson has been stepping up in Herro’s absence, and he continued to impress on Friday. Over his last 14 starts, Larsson has averaged 12.8 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 3.5 assists, showcasing his ability to do the little things that make a big difference. Spoelstra praised Larsson’s versatility, calling him the “glue” that enhances the team’s dynamics with his hustle and ball movement.

As the Heat prepare for their next game against Memphis, they might be without starting point guard Davion Mitchell, who is doubtful due to illness. Forward Nikola Jovic and reserve guard Dru Smith are also questionable, dealing with minor injuries. Herro and Norman Powell are probable, ready to contribute on the second night of a back-to-back.

In other news, rookie Kasparas Jakucionis shared insights about his transition to the NBA. In a conversation with Cyro Asseo of HoopsHype, Jakucionis talked about the Heat’s culture and learning from veterans like Mitchell. He emphasized the importance of hard work, teamwork, and attention to detail, qualities that resonate with the Heat’s ethos.
