Ryan Conwell didn’t need long to show Miami what it may have in him.
The Heat used the No. 37 pick in the 2026 NBA Draft on the Louisville guard, bringing him in as part of the roster build around Giannis Antetokounmpo and Bam Adebayo. Then Conwell stepped into his first Summer League game at the California Classic and immediately flashed the one skill Miami needs most from him: the ability to shoot it from deep.
He logged a little more than 29 minutes in that opener and finished with 21 points, three rebounds and three assists. The overall shooting line was uneven - 4-of-12 from the field - but the number that mattered most was his 3-of-7 mark from three-point range.
That kind of shooting is exactly why the Heat saw him as a useful piece.
Miami has spent the summer reshaping the roster after a major swing that sent Tyler Herro, other pieces and a hefty pile of draft capital to the Milwaukee Bucks for Antetokounmpo. Once that deal went through, the mission became clear: build around him.
The Heat have not been overly busy beyond that. They re-signed Andrew Wiggins to an extension that will be added on top of his current deal, brought back Simone Fontecchio and added Tim Hardaway Jr. in free agency.
Before all of that, though, they made a draft choice that could matter. Conwell gives them a young guard project with real shooting upside, even if he is not ready to handle major NBA minutes right away.
What stands out is how comfortable he already looks letting it fly. Miami needs players who won’t hesitate from outside, because Antetokounmpo is going to open up the floor. Conwell looks like the kind of shooter who can take advantage of that space.
If this first Summer League outing is any indication, the Heat may have found a guard who fits neatly next to Antetokounmpo.

Pat Rileys Latest LeBron Gamble Could Cost Heat Big Around Giannis
Miami has already made its biggest swing by completing the trade for Giannis Antetokounmpo and adding Tim Hardaway Jr., but the work around the new core is not finished. Pat Rileys front office is still weighing whether to keep its powder dry while LeBron James sorts out his future, a familiar kind of star-chasing decision that can reshape the rest of the summer in a hurry.
The problem is the waiting game cuts both ways. Veteran free agents tied to Miami may not stay available forever, and the longer the Heat hold off on the next move, the more they risk missing the kinds of experienced pieces that could help round out a Giannis-led roster. For a team trying to build quickly around a fresh centerpiece, the balance between patience and urgency is getting harder to manage. [Read more 🡒]
Giannis Had Another Viral Offseason Moment Heat Fans Need To See
Giannis Antetokounmpo spent part of an offseason livestream in Greece sharing a meal with streamer NEON, and the interaction quickly took off on social media once the conversation turned to what was on the plate. The scene had the kind of loose, unscripted feel that tends to travel fast online, especially when it involves one of the NBAs biggest stars in a casual setting far from the court.
What made the moment resonate was NEONs Muslim faith, which gave the exchange an added layer of sensitivity and helped explain why viewers latched onto it so quickly. Even now, the full context is still murky, with no clear answer on whether NEON knew what he was being served or whether the whole thing was staged, and neither side has offered much to settle it. Heat Fans Can Finally Dream On A LeBron Reunion Again
The NBA moratorium lifting finally put the Heats offseason business into motion, and with it came a fresh dose of long-shot ambition. Miami has already been linked to a new era built around Giannis Antetokounmpo, but the franchise is also keeping one eye on a far more familiar possibility: LeBron James, whose next move is being watched closely as he weighs his options for the 2026-27 season.
LeBron is not set to sit down with teams himself, with Rich Paul handling the conversations and sorting through the interest from Miami and a few other suitors. Cleveland, Golden State and Philadelphia are also in the mix, and the Heat are among the clubs trying to make their case while the process stays in the background and the real decision remains unresolved.
