Miami Heat Stuns Fans with 3-Year Deal for Undrafted Standout

Undrafted talent Myron Gardner secures a pivotal role in Miami's roster transformation with a three-year deal.

As the Miami Heat look to turn their season around post-All-Star break, they've made a strategic move by signing undrafted standout Myron Gardner to a three-year standard contract. Despite some ups and downs this season, Gardner has shone brightly, earning his spot on the roster through hard work and impressive performances.

NBA insider Chris Haynes reports that Gardner, who previously played as a two-way player, has now filled Miami's 15th roster spot. This move leaves a two-way slot open, with the other spots occupied by Vladislav Goldin and Jahmir Young.

Gardner's recent surge in minutes under head coach Erik Spoelstra is largely due to team injuries, and he has certainly made the most of it. Starting in four games, he's averaged 11.0 points, 8.5 rebounds, and 2.3 assists, while shooting a remarkable 55.2% from the field and 53.8% from beyond the arc.

Gardner isn't just making waves with his stats; his physicality, personality, and energy have been invaluable to the Heat. Teammate Norman Powell has highlighted how Gardner's presence benefits the team immensely.

Gardner's impact extends beyond the main roster, as he's also been a force with the Sioux Falls Skyforce, Miami's G League affiliate. His hustle on the boards and infectious energy have earned him respect throughout the organization.

Heat captain Bam Adebayo praised Gardner, saying, “You need teammates like him. When Myron checks in, you instantly feel a difference.”

As the Heat sit at 29-27, eighth in the Eastern Conference, Gardner's continued contributions will be crucial as they face the Atlanta Hawks on Friday. The Heat are counting on his relentless drive to help propel them forward in the season's second half.
